Dr. Breznay will focus on the unique approaches of the geriatrician toward the health of the older adult. She will highlight the important of the geriatric assessment, especially as it relates to function. The role of polypharmacy and the judicious and appropriate use of medications will be discussed. Finally, Dr. Breznay will emphasize the importance of intentional goal setting for the older adult.
Jennifer Breznay, MD MPH is the Associate Program Director for the Geriatrics Division at Maimonides Medical Center. Trained as a Family Physician at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and the University of Washington in Seattle, she returned to New York to graduate from Mount Sinai Hospital's Fellowship in Geriatrics. She has a particular clinical interest in the health of the community dwelling elder. As an educator, Dr. Breznay focuses on developing communication skills to support sound decision-making around end-of-life care and the behavioral management of disease. She is proud to be a 3rd generation Brooklynite who is raising a 4th generation in this fair borough.
